Varsity Lakes was a hive of activity over the Easter school holidays as local kids were entertained with sporting, cooking and craft activities as part of the community’s Easter Program.
More than 300 kids took part in the workshops over the Easter break, this year sponsored by the Varsity Lakes Community Bank - Bendigo Bank and Varsity Lakes Community Limited (VLCL).
Varsity Lakes senior project director Carl Bruhn said the Easter Program is always eagerly anticipated by local children and parents alike.
“Easter is a time of year that all kids look forward to, so it was great for us to be able to offer a variety of activities to keep them busy,” Mr Bruhn said.
Sponsored by VLCL, the Easter balloon workshop and a cooking class which allowed kids to cook Easter treats to take home, was enjoyed by many.
Varsity Lakes Community Limited (VLCL) is a community based not for profit organisation established to ensure continuity of key initiatives at Varsity Lakes.
VLCL chairman Nic Rone said they were proud to support the activities to get local kids active during the school holidays.
“It’s not every day kids get to learn balloon skills and cook Easter treats so we were happy to support these events to get kids active in the local community and keep them entertained as they enjoy their Easter break,” Mr Rone said.
As part of their commitment to supporting local communities, the Varsity Lakes Community Bank-Bendigo Bank, sponsored circus skills and cheerleading.
Sailing and kayaking on Lake Orr was also part of this year’s program and an Easter egg hunt for kids and their parents kicked off the fun on March 27.
Varsity Lakes will comprise 4,500 homes upon projected completion in 2011 and up to 100,000-square metres of commercial space in town centre Varsity Central. It will become home to more than 10,000 residents and more than 6,000 employees.
Varsity Lakes is being developed by Delfin Lend Lease, Australia’s largest developer of master planned communities, with 25 projects nationally.
