The Varsity Lakes community has welcomed the arrival of a new Australia Post licensed post office in Market Square, as owners and local residents Lynne Davis and her sister Vanessa Simmons opened their doors on Monday April 12.
Relocated from Bond University, the Varsity Lakes licensed post office will provide close to 500 private post boxes to the local community, as well as a range of postal and business services.
Varsity Lakes senior project director Carl Bruhn said the move signifies an important milestone for the entire Varsity Lakes community and is a result of consistent lobbying from Delfin Lend Lease and local businesses, coupled with vital community support.
“The Varsity Lakes post office will now directly service more than 500 businesses, 8,000 residents and more than 5,000 employees,” Mr Bruhn said.
Varsity Lakes Community Limited (VLCL) chairman and local business owner Nic Rone said the community was pleased to welcome the post office to the centre of the Varsity Lakes business hub.
“The post office will service more than 40 local retailers, and will make it a lot easier for residents, businesses and employees alike to access the vital services,” Mr Rone said.
“We have been eager for the post office to join Market Square, and are happy to welcome owners and local residents Lynne Davis and Vanessa Simmons to the growing Varsity Lakes business community.”
Varsity Lakes licensed post office co-owner Lynne Davis said the move to Varsity Lakes will benefit both businesses and the local community.
“We are excited to be joining the Varsity Lakes business community, and as a resident of three years, I am proud to be providing postal services to this growing community,” Ms Davis said.
“We are really committed to the local community and are looking forward to starting our dream of living, working and playing in the Varsity Lakes community.”
Anchored by the nearby Bond University, Varsity Lakes has attracted a range of business leaders including IBM, Minter Ellison, gotalk, AON Insurance, Gold Coast City Council Engineering Services Division and last year welcomed Telstra.
Varsity Lakes will comprise 4,500 homes upon projected completion in 2011 and up to 100,000-square metres of commercial space in town centre Varsity Central. It will become home to more than 10,000 residents and more than 6,000 employees.
Varsity Lakes is being developed by Delfin Lend Lease, Australia’s largest developer of master planned communities, with 25 projects nationally.
